How it works

A Water and Energy Community Specialist will come to your home for a basic walk-through, identify leaks and energy efficiency issues as well as install FREE water conservation and energy-efficient products as needed. To get started, complete a brief application and schedule your in-home walk-through.

What's in my free kits?

Your conservation kits contain several devices that can help you use less water and energy without any loss of convenience or performance.

Please note: Supplies might be limited or not available.

Kitchen and bathroom faucet aerators: An aerator mixes air with the water to create a steady stream of water with no noticeable change in water pressure. Your kitchen aerator has a maximum flow of 1.5 gallons per minute (gpm), and the bathroom aerator has a maximum flow of 1.0 gpm. Using aerators can reduce water consumption in your kitchen and bathroom sinks by 30% to 75%.

High-efficiency shower head: Your new high-efficiency shower head has nine different settings and uses only 1.5 gpm, which is 40% more efficient than a standard shower head.

Toilet leak detection tablets: The non-toxic tablets in your kit can be used to diagnose a toilet flapper leak. Just drop a tablet in your toilet tank, stir the water gently, and wait 15 minutes. If the water in your toilet bowl has coloring in it after 15 minutes, you have a leaky toilet flapper that needs to be replaced.

ENERGYSTAR Certified LED Bulbs : Uses up to 90% less energy and lasts as much as 25 times longer than traditional incandescent bulbs while offering better light and giving off less heat.

Additional products might be offered and installed, if determined needed:

Toilet flapper: A new toilet tank flapper will prevent your toilet from wasting water between flushes. The average leaky toilet wastes around 200 gallons a day, or 6,000 gallons a month. This can cost you hundreds of dollars per year in higher water bills.

Toilet Fill Cycle Diverter: This device goes inside your toilet tank and diverts some of the water that normally fills the bowl to fill the tank. It can save from 0.5 to 1.5 gallons per flush.

Toilet tank bank: Putting a toilet tank bank in your existing toilet is easy and reduces the amount of water needed to refill the tank by 0.8 gallons each time you flush.

Water Heater Pipe Wrap: Insulating hot water pipes prevents heat loss.

A toilet with a moderate leak can waste 6,000 gallons of water per month! Not using a high-efficiency showerhead can cause a family of four to waste almost 550 gallons of water per month. All this wasted water means a lot of money on your water bill!
