RECYCLING FAQ
How do you determine what materials are accepted?
We determine which materials we accept in consultation with our contract partner, the City of KCMO, and the companies that receive the materials we collect. We accept the same materials that are accepted in curbside recycling in KCMO as well as certain other materials for which we have special partnerships in place.
Recyclability is not determined by the waste people produce or even whether the material is technically recyclable. In order to be recycled, materials must be in a form that can be processed, and there must be companies willing to buy the materials and use them to make things.
What should I do if I can't tell whether you accept something I want to recycle?
If after reviewing our list of accepted materials, you still have a question about a material, please call us at (816) 561-1087 or ask one of our staff at a center location. When in doubt, leave it out!
