ACCEPTED MATERIALS
KCMO Recycling Drop-Off Centers
We take all materials accepted curbside in Kansas City, Missouri, plus additional ones! Check out what’s included below. All materials except glass, must be clean, dry, and free of water damage. To view a detailed, printable list of all accepted materials, please click the button below:

PLASTICS
The only types of plastic accepted are bottles, jugs and tubs with a #1, #2, #4 or #5 resin code. Examples include: Bottles – milk, water, soda, juice, detergent, shampoo, etc. Tubs – sour cream, yogurt, peanut butter, cottage cheese, deli tubs, etc. Caps and lids can only be processed if they are on containers.
CARDBOARD
Includes flat-finish corrugated cardboard boxes. Flatten boxes. Remove excessive tape/staples. Clean and dry, no water damage, no food stains, and no chemicals.
GLASS
Includes food and beverage bottles and jars. Please rinse. All colors welcome, no need to separate by color. Glass candle jars and votives accepted, even if they still have wax. Remove lids.
ALUMINUM
Includes aluminum foil wrap, pie plates, roasting pans. No foil-like plastics (such as potato chip bags).
MIXED PAPER
Newspaper, office-quality paper, magazines, catalogs, phone books, envelopes, and most inserts from mail, newspaper, off-white packing paper, molded fiber forms and paperback books. Clean and dry, no water damage, no food stains, and no chemicals.
PAPERBOARD
Includes shiny corrugated boxes, non-corrugated boxes (soft-drink, cereal, gift boxes), paper towel rolls, manila envelopes, phone books & packing inserts.
PAPER CARTONS
Includes milk and juice cartons plus box-shaped aseptic cartons used to package non-dairy beverages, soups, broths/stocks, and juices. Screw caps back on and place cartons in with plastics. Please do not flatten.
TIN
Includes food and beverage cans. Rinse. Okay to leave the paper labels. No mineral spirits, gasoline or other solvent cans.
BOOKS (Hardcover)
Must be clean and dry, no water damage. Softcover books go in mixed paper.
ELECTRONICS
Includes cell phones, iPods and other MP3 players, digital cameras, GPS units, e-readers, tablets, and matching chargers/adapters.
TONER & INKJET CARTRIDGES
Includes rechargeable toner and inkjet cartridges from printers or photocopiers. Only OEM inkjet and toner cartridges are accepted.

SCRAP METAL
Includes chain link fence, chicken wire, sheet metal, aluminum window frames, bike frames, bike parts, garden tools, nuts, bolts, screws, nails, metal office furniture, springs, electrical wire, bottle caps, etc.
Accepted at Red Bridge only:
PACKING MATERIALS
Only packing peanuts and bubble wrap. Secure in a closed plastic bag (no boxes). Materials available for free to recycling center patrons. See staff for information.
