In December 2024, Bridging The Gap’s Board of Directors began an Executive Director search for the next leader of our organization after Kristin Riott announced her intention to retire. An executive search committee led by the board received more than 200 applications from candidates across the country. Over the past two months, the committee conducted a robust process to review applications and hold multiple rounds of interviews with well-qualified candidates.
Bridging The Gap is pleased to announce Scott Wagner has been selected as Executive Director, beginning March 17. Wagner comes to BTG with depth and breadth of experience in community development, public service, and advocacy.
He currently serves as the Community and Economic Development Director at Mattie Rhodes, is presently Western County Commissioner for Clay County, Missouri, and an adjunct professor at the University of Missouri – Kansas City. Previously, Wagner was a City Councilman for the City of Kansas City, Missouri, for eight years. He was Mayor Pro Tem and chairperson of the Finance and Governance Committee for five of those years.
Scott Wagner will assume the role of Bridging The Gap’s executive director on March 17, 2025.
”Scott is an outstanding and deeply experienced public servant. His reputation for empowering others, his leadership and experience with inclusively building and funding community-based programs, will be invaluable in successfully guiding BTG in its next phase of growth."
