HEARTLAND TREE ALLIANCE
WAIVER of LIABILITY and ASSUMPTION OF RISKS

I am aware that Heartland Tree Alliance is a program of Bridging The Gap. I also understand that being a volunteer for Bridging The Gap’s Heartland Tree Alliance is a potentially dangerous activity. I warrant that I have no physical or psychological conditions that would create risk(s) for myself or others in connection with this volunteer activity. I understand that the volunteer work I may perform may be inherently dangerous and has risks that include, but aren't limited to, those created by motor vehicle traffic; walking on uneven ground or sidewalks, and/or in areas with exposed roots or other loose footing; the use of hand pruning tools; falling or blowing debris from trees and limbs of trees; exposure to plants and/or insects that cause allergic reactions (including poison ivy) and the effects of weather conditions, including high heat and/or humidity, sun, cold, wind, snow, rain or ice. In the event my volunteer activities require the use of an automobile or other motorized vehicle or take the place in an office or other setting, I understand that there may be additional and/or different risks that arise in such atmospheres. Therefore, I assume any and all risks directly or indirectly associated with working as a volunteer for Bridging The Gap’s Heartland Tree Alliance. I understand that I am solely responsible for my own safety both on the premises and in traveling to and from the volunteer work sites.

Additionally, I understand that photos may be taken during the event I am participating in, and I hereby grant Bridging The Gap and Heartland Tree Alliance the irrevocable and unrestricted right to use and publish photographs of me, or in which I may be included, for editorial, trade, advertising, and any other purpose and in any manner and medium; to alter the same without restriction; and to copyright the same. I hereby release Bridging The Gap and Heartland Tree Alliance from all claims and liability relating to said photographs.

Being aware of the above facts, and in consideration of being allowed to contribute to the health of the community forest as a volunteer for Bridging The Gap’s Heartland Tree Alliance, I hereby for myself, my heirs, executors, administrators or anyone else who might claim on my behalf, covenant not to sue, and do release Heartland Tree Alliance, Bridging The Gap, and all relevant Heartland Tree Alliance or Bridging The Gap partners or event host communities, and their employees, representatives, successors or assigns, from any and all claims or liability for death, personal injury or property damage of any kind or nature whatsoever arising out of, or in the course of, my participation as a Heartland Tree Alliance or as a Bridging The Gap volunteer.

This Waiver of Liability and Assumption of Risks extends to all claims of every kind or nature whatsoever, foreseen or unforeseen, known or unknown.
