🌱 After a long, cold winter, the natural areas our WildLands team stewards are awakening. Though we don’t often think to look down when we’re among trees, the understories of healthy forests and woodlands support a great deal of diversity in the early spring. Looking for spring ephemerals, named so because they only make an appearance for a week or two, is the perfect way to give yourself the gift of time in nature this season. Pictured here:

The Kansas City Parrot Head Club recently did a fu

The Kansas City Parrot Head Club recently did a fundraiser on our behalf and dropped the check off personally.
The purpose of the club is to assist in community concerns and provide a variety of social activities for people who are interested in the music of Jimmy Buffett and the tropical lifestyle he personifies.
In the past two years the Kansas City chapter has raised over $10,000 for local charities and worked almost 825 hours of community service.

A couple weeks back our KC WildLands team helped facilitate a prescribed burn at Jerry Smith Prairie. A prescribed burn, also known as a controlled burn, is the intentional setting of a fire under specific conditions to manage vegetation and reduce wildfire risk, while also promoting ecological health and wildlife habitat.
