Quick recycling reminder! When in doubt, throw it out!

Wishcycling, which is when people put things into recycling bins wishing for them to be recycled rather than only putting things in that their recycling provider explicitly accepts, while well-intended, actually undermines recycling.

That's because there's a cost to removing things that get into the recycling stream that aren't accepted.

If they aren't removed, they contaminate the recyclables and reduce their value.

You can find the current curbside recycling guidelines for Metro-KC at recyclespot.org/resources and check all packaging for How2Recycle labeling.

Yesterday some of our staff got the opportunity to visit with Jay, Operations Lead at Bold Reuse and Sam, Operations Manager at CPKC to talk about sustainable practices and reuse!

Bold Reuse collaborates with local businesses like CPKC to help find workable reuse options for things like cups and packaging. CPKC utilizes Bold Reuse for all of their reusable cups, and Sam showed us all of the other ways the stadium integrates sustainability, including things like solar powered lights and on-site composting! Thanks Jay and Sam!
