National Volunteer Week social media campaign

#NationalVolunteerWeek

Social Media Campaign Wins Local Award

April 15 – 21, 2018

National Volunteer Week, powered by Points of Light, was established in 1974 as a way for organizations to celebrate the impact of volunteer service in improving communities.Β  Bridging The Gap engages more than 1,500 volunteers each year to improve Kansas City’s environment by planting trees, removing litter from streams and neighborhoods, restoring remnant native forests and prairies, providing recycling service, and more! During National Volunteer Week, we organized nearly 300 volunteers across the metro and are thrilled to showcase their efforts through social media.

We are excited to report that Bridging The Gap is the winner of Nonprofit Connect’s National Volunteer Week social media campaign as “the photo slideshow of volunteers truly showed their culture of appreciation and recognition”! Amy Smith, Bridging The Gap’s Volunteer Services Manager, states “it’s an honor and a joy to showcase our volunteers’ service toward a better environment!”

Check out the campaign below, featured on our twitter, instagram, and facebook accounts. Want to join our movement toward improving Kansas City’s environment? It's National Volunteer Week! πŸ™ŒYou've helped us make great strides in improving our environment in the past 26 years! Last fiscal year alone, more than 1,600 volunteers helped plant more than 4,000 trees, picked up more than 3,000 pounds of litter, educated tens of thousands of recyclers, and restored 19 native wildlands sites! 😁 You are amazing and we are honored to work alongside you! Join us this year as a volunteer and you'll get a re-usable nylon #bethechange bag and a KIND bar, compliments of our friends from #CargillCares! We hope to see you soon!
