We are sad to announce the passing of one of the newer members of the BTG tribe, Savannah Domann. Savannah volunteered alongside her father, Tony Domann, to plant trees with our Heartland Tree Alliance program in the Indian Mound neighborhood in May. Savannah’s light will continue to shine through the beauty of trees. Tony, her father, has been a BTG friend for many years through our relationship with Posty Cards, a local environmentally friendly greeting card business. We thank Tony for the opportunity to work with his daughter, and send love and comfort to Savannah’s family and friends.

Savannah Rose Domann, 17, a resident of Grain Valley, MO passed away unexpectedly in an automobile accident on Sunday, December 24, 2017. She was born May 25, 2000 in Kansas City, MO to Anthony Domann and Sherrie McGinnis.
Savannah was currently a senior at Grain Valley High School and was employed at Rancho Grande in Blue Springs, MO. She wanted to become a Marine Biologist to study sharks. Savannah enjoyed playing soccer from the 5th through 8th grades. She was a good student with an outgoing personality. Savannah never met someone who didn’t turn out to be a friend. She volunteered at Bridging the Gap an organization that planted trees in the inner city.
Survivors include mother, Sherrie McGinnis (Jeremy) of Grain Valley, MO; father, Anthony “Tony” Domann (Crystal) of Independence, MO; brothers, Zachary Domann (Jade Young) of Independence, MO, Jason Domann (Kimberly) of Kansas City, MO; step-siblings, Noah McGinnis of Grain Valley, MO, Karleigh Burnett of Independence, MO, Makenzie Burnett of Independence, MO; maternal grandfather, Forrest Oelberg of Raytown, MO; maternal grandmother, Jean Evans of Independence, MO; paternal grandmother, Helen Domann of Independence, MO, step-grandparents John and Deborah McGinnis of Grain Valley, MO; aunt, Carrie Orozco of Raytown, MO; uncles, Charles Oelberg of Lee’s Summit, MO, Robert Killion (Misty) of Grain Valley, MO; cousins, Carissa Orozco, Kaleb Oelberg, Bailey Oelberg, Emma Oelberg, Dakota Fish, Dawson Killion, Dayton Killion; niece, Octavia Domann. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, William “Bill” Domann; step-grandfather, Harold Thornton.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m., -1:00 p.m., on Friday, December 29, 2017 at Eastside Baptist Church, 19901 MO-78, Independence, MO 64057. Funeral service will start at 1:00 p.m., at the church. Burial will follow at Blue Springs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Bridging the Gap Inc., 1427 W. 9th St, Kansas City, MO 64101 or Eastside Baptist Church Student Ministries.
