Save the Date for the KC Rally for the People’s Climate March
On April 29th, the People’s Climate Movement will hold a March for Jobs, Justice and Climate in Washington, DC. Organizers want as many people as possible to make the trek to DC to march with them, but it’s a long trip from the Midwest, Plains and West Coast so they’re also calling for sister marches around the nation. The 29th is the 100th day of the Trump administration and the march will be the culmination of 14 weeks of actions in defense of climate action and social justice.
We in the climate action movement face a tough fight ahead with climate deniers in charge of all the Cabinet-level Departments and Agencies overseeing climate and energy policy and Republican majorities in both houses of Congress that would like to undo all of the Obama administration’s executive actions on climate change. This makes it essential that these marches turn out more people than any climate-focused event in the past, including the September 2014 People’s Climate March in New York City which drew more than 300,000 people. If you’re ready to join in, the first step is to visit https://peoplesclimate.org/ to sign up to join the movement.
There will likely be at least one charter bus traveling from Kansas and Missouri to DC for the march (send an email to 350KCLead@gmail.com if you’re interesting in going) and a KC rally is in the works. It will be from 1-3 pm on Saturday, April 29th in Washington Square Park just north of Crown Center. Please RSVP and if you’re on Facebook, please share the Facebook event and invite your friends.
