Volunteer Workdays

Kansas City WildLand’s mission is to restore and manage the remnants of Kansas City’s original landscape. Typical work days last between 3-4 hours and are offered during the week and weekends. Our workdays include:

Honeysuckle and Garlic Mustard Removal

Invasive species like honeysuckle and garlic mustard are invasive species that form a thick understory that limits sunlight to native plants inhibiting seedling establishment and forest regeneration. They also compete for soil moisture, nutrients, and may produce a chemical that inhibits native plant growth. During these workdays, volunteers hand pull to remove seedlings and use cutting and herbicide treatments.

Native Seed Collection & Harvesting

There are seed production plots being planted across the region and we need help collecting the valuable seeds. This is a seasonal volunteer opportunity and will be posted on our events calendar as opportunities arise.

Become a Member of our Seed Team – Higher Level Opportunity

Seed Team volunteers help identify, collect, and process seeds from the wild land sites. These seeds are high-value, significant forbs that are then replanted on public lands.
