Ogg Road Prairie
Johnson County Park and Recreation District
This large park straddles Shawnee and Lenexa, Kansas and contains a small but floristically diverse native prairie. Coneflowers, blazing stars, rattlesnake master, prairie clover, coreopsis, ladies’ tress orchid, several sunflower species and many others are found on this remnant of a natural community which once covered most of Johnson County. This little prairie jewel is threatened by encroaching woody vegetation and has been the subject of several KCWL volunteer workdays. It contains among the highest diversity of native flora among all of KCWL current sites.
