Business Recycling Consultations

BTGblog_RecycleOrDieWant to start recycling in your workplace?

If you’re interested in starting an office recycling program, schedule a business recycling consultation with Bridging The Gap. We are adept at offering some simple steps to help you begin, as well as providing ongoing solutions to allow your business to be as green as possible. If you are selected to participate in our program, these are the services you can expect to receive:

  • We can offer solutions for recycling improvement, by researching vendors and/or new outlets for materials, which may include a menu of haulers, pricing, and potential rebate programs;
  • Suggest expansion by capturing materials like organics, glass and electronics;
  • Recommend appropriate bins and proper placement in the facility;
  • Tailor recycling signage for your system;
  • Help re-negotiate hauling contracts (if applicable);
  • Conduct education through presentations, content for internal websites and newsletters, and the training of green teams and/or department leaders;

Bridging The Gap has designed posters to help your employees know “right from wrong” when it comes to putting items in the correct containers. Examples of our posters include Co-mingled Recycling, Food Composting, Landfill, Scrap Metal, Electronics, Plastic Film, Waste To Alternative Fuel and Glass Recycling. Fee for Service

Bridging The Gap has been working on recycling programs for 25 years! We employ top experts in the region who have forged strong relationships with local vendors and haulers. Often Bridging The Gap can set up a recycling or waste-reduction program faster, cheaper, and with better results than hiring an outside firm. If your business is located in Missouri, you may qualify for a free consultation (afforded to you by the Mid-America Regional Council Solid Waste Management District and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources). If you are in Kansas or do not qualify for our free program, please consider hiring us! We’ve been contracted to help some of the region’s top firms including Burns & McDonnell, Chiefs, Veolia, Faultless Starch, to name just a few.

1. WASTE AUDIT CONSULTING – $4,000

BTG can provide waste audit services, consisting of a full analysis of your building’s waste stream. The audit will identify types of waste generated, categorize recyclable and non-recyclable materials and a calculation of your current diversion rate.  This service includes a written report with full audit results and recommendations for increasing recoverable material. Past clients include Burns & McDonnell.
 All trash is sorted by hand – everything is categorized. Using volunteers is a great way to keep the cost of a waste audit minimal.

2. ZERO-WASTE-TO-LANDFILL CONSULTING – $7,000-$14,000

BTG can provide expertise in assisting your business in the process of going Zero Waste to Landfill, wherein your waste system is restructured so that all products are reused or recycled, and little, to no waste is sent to landfills.  Our services include a full waste assessment, help in the creation of an internal sustainability team, finding haulers and/or outlets for difficult waste streams, creation of metrics to track waste and diversion, creation of internal recycling collection areas, personalized signage, employee training and long-term system trouble-shooting.  Typically the process takes 6-12 months. Past clients include Faultless Starch/Bon Ami Company and Veolia.
Kansas City is very fortunate to have Systech Environmental and Missouri Organic, two vendors that make going ZERO WASTE TO LANDFILL a possibility.

3. GREEN COMMUNITY EVENTS

Bridging The Gap has many years experience helping transform community events into more sustainable venues. We can assist with bin placement; provide guidance on the rental of proper landfill, recycling and composting bins; arrange organic, recycling and waste disposal with haulers, including Missouri Organic; provide volunteers to monitor your recycling stations, and more! Please contact Cassandra Ford at 816-561-1061 ext. 135 or email for more information.

Some of our success stories include:

  • GreenEvents-logosNew Belgium Brewing Clips and Film Tour 2012 – 2016 (in 2016 we reached 98% diversion from landfill!)
  • Boulevardia 2015 + 2014
  • Chiefs, Arrowhead Stadium (both the concourse and parking lot) 2014 season

Past Participants

Through the generous support of the Mid-America Regional Council Solid Waste Management District and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Bridging The Gap has been conducing Business Recycling Consultations for the past three years. We’ve helped over 60 businesses increase their diversion rates.
