Kansas City WildLands Invasive Removal
in partnership with Project Blue River Rescue
Saturday, April 6, 8:30 – 11:30 AM
All shifts are filled. Please take a look at our site and select another opportunity. More events to be posted soon!
Kansas City WildLands volunteers, in partnership with Project Blue River Rescue, will remove invasive honeysuckle from a bottomland forest near the Blue River. Project Blue River Rescue is a large-scale conservation event focused on stewardship of the Blue River. The team of KC WildLands volunteers will be working alongside KCMO parks foresters – cutting, treating and pulling out invasive exotic shrub honeysuckle that infests the glade and woodland behind the Nature Center – opening the woodlands and glade for native plants to come back and thrive.
Bonus! Project Blue River Rescue’s famous hot dog lunch and stream team t-shirts will be provided after the workday (while supplies last)!
Tools and equipment will be provided. All volunteers must register in advance by completing online registration. Click on registration button below for more details and to register. If you have a group, please contact Linda Lehrbaum, 816-561-1089 or email linda@bridgingthegap.org.
Please note, this is a large event with hundreds of volunteers joining in from several partnerships. We’ve staggered our start time to allow you to find the KC WildLands team at 8:30.
We apologize that we are not able to offer or sign off on court-mandated community service or disciplinary service.
