Event: Plogging (jogging + picking up litter)
August 24, 2019 @ 8:45 am - 11:45 am
| Free
What is plogging? It is a combination of jogging and picking up litter. Started in Sweden in 2016, plogging has spread to other countries following increased concern about plastic litter washing from sidewalks, streets and parking lots into the storm sewers that lead to our rivers and streams. Join us on Saturday, August 24 for the inaugural Kansas City Plog-A-Thon presented by the MARC Water Quality Public Education Committee. This will be a free, fun and family-friendly event that will allow participants to get some exercise and fresh air while helping to keep our waterways clean in the Kansas City Metro area. All event supplies will be provided, including gloves, trash bags, litter pickup tools, etc. All you need to do is RSVP, show up at 8:45 a.m., and be sure to wear comfortable shoes & clothing. The plogging route will be approximately 3 miles long.
