About MEC’s Energy Solutions Hub

The Hub continues the work of Kansas City’s City Energy Project. Its initial goal is to reduce commercial energy demand by 4% within 2 years which equals 344k fewer metric tons of CO2 emissions annually, saving the equivalent of burning 37 million barrels of gasoline annually and $40 million in consumer savings every year. The Hub’s target market is the estimated 138,000 buildings in the metro that are between 10k and 100k ft2. These buildings represent an estimated 1 billion ft2 total and account for approximately 43% of electricity use in the area. The Hub is focused on helping municipal buildings, schools, industrial facilities, and multi-family residential properties. We provide the tools, materials, and individual support facility managers need to achieve deep energy and cost savings in their owned and leased building space.
