Urgent Volunteer Request: Recycling Center Volunteers (Flexible Shifts)

June 30, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

Saturday, June 30, Recycling Center Volunteers

Shifts: 10:00 am – 1:00 pm or 1:00 – 5:00 pm.

Locations: Metro North (northland) or Red Bridge (south KCMO)

Can you and a friend be our eco-heroes and volunteer for a few hours on Saturday, June 30? If the exact shift time (above) do not work for you, we can be flexible.

Help your community and the environment by volunteering at one of our community recycling centers! This outdoor volunteer opportunity is great for students who want to stay busy this summer and gain community engagement experience (looks great on college applications!).  Recycling preserves forests; keeps oil, natural gas, and minerals in the ground; and prevents air and water pollution. Volunteers assist the recycling center site manager with various duties, such as breaking down cardboard, assisting patrons, etc.  Min age: 8, with parent. (10 yrs old for youth groups).  Max group size: 6.

Locations:

Metro North Recycling Center: north of the river at 8740 N Summit Street KCMO 64155. Either morning or afternoon shift is available at this site.

Red Bridge Recycling Center: 5200 E. Red Bridge Rd., Kansas City, MO 64137 in the KCATA Park-and-Ride commuter parking lot.

All volunteers must register in advance. Deadline: Friday June 29, noon. Call or text Amy Smith, 816-561-1062 or email volunteer@bridgingthegap.org and reference your preferred location and shift.

We apologize that we are not able to offer or sign off on court-mandated community service or disciplinary service.
