Find Yourself in Nature
Saturday, March 31st
American Jazz Museum + Gem Theatre
6:30 - 10:00 PM
Join Bridging The Gap for an evening of exploration of the science behind what we’ve always intuitively known: nature does good things to the human brain and body – it makes us healthier, happier, and smarter. When we get lost in nature – be it untouched wilderness or under a backyard tree – we feel restored.
Guests will begin the evening at the American Jazz Museum and enjoy nature-inspired hors d’oeuvres, participate in a silent auction, and explore the Jazz Museum, all while mingling with KC’s most respected environmentalists.
Next, we will promenade to the Gem Theatre to “Find Ourselves in Nature” by viewing intoxicating images of Kansas City’s wildlife, choreographed to live jazz music. Finally, David Gessner, host of National Geographic’s “The Call of the Wild” will inspire us all to become more rooted and connected to the places we live in – better understanding both nature and ourselves.
Join us for an afterparty in The Blue Room Jazz Club, adjacent to the Jazz Museum! $10 cover charge
Keynote Speaker - David Gessner
“David Gessner has been a font of creativity ever since the 1980s, when he published provocative political cartoons in that famous campus magazine, the Harvard Crimson. These days he’s a naturalist, a professor and a master of the art of telling humorous and thought-provoking narratives about unusual people in out-of-the way-places."
